| What
is the Duveneck Partnership? One
of the things that makes Duveneck special is that parents and teachers share the
goal of creating a wonderful and supportive school experience. Our school climate
is created in part by the cumulative effect of the many interactions between children,
parents and teachers. Just as we want our children to treat each other kindly,
we encourage parents and teachers at Duveneck to strive for an atmosphere of consideration
and respect. In
order to achieve the most effective communication among parents, teachers and
the principal, the School Site Council has drafted The Duveneck Partnership. The
Partnership encourages us all to focus on the many goals we share and provides
ideas and guidelines for parent - teacher interactions. Although the specifics
may change depending on the situation, the following basic principles characterize
the Duveneck Partnership. Assumption
of Good Intentions Parents and teachers all care about children.
Our shared goals form the basis of the Partnership. Building
Positive Relationships Showing appreciation when things are
going well will go a long way towards creating good will between parents and teachers. Respectful
Communication Being respectful of time, feelings and privacy
in all of our interactions can lead to better communication. Effective
Problem Solving Productive resolution of problems is possible
when we focus on the child, share ideas and feelings only with those directly
involved, and remain focused, respectful and honest. Modeling
Successful Strategies Parents and teachers who work together
successfully can act as role models for others.
