The Site Council develops and updates a comprehensive school plan for long-range planning purposes. The Council monitors the school's improvement activities and its expenditure of funds for such activities.

As a representative body of parents, faculty and staff, the site council is charged with the following:

A. Defining and developing a sense of purpose, direction and community for the school; and

B. Building capacity for change through collaborative decision making.

More specifically, the purpose of this site council shall be to develop, approve, monitor, and assess the school improvement plan, including the Annual School Plan that is submitted annually to the Palo Alto Unified School District.  The purpose of the site council will include creating and approving a budget compatible with the school plan.

The Site Council occasionally appoints talk forces comprised of parents and staff to complete specific tasks, such as developing the bi-annual opinion survey.

The Duveneck Site Council is composed of an equal number of parents and staff who are elected to serve a two year term.  Heidi Mickelsen, a parent, and Diane Gosney, a teacher, will serve as co-facilitators for the site council in the 2007-2008 school year.
