The Technology Committee oversees the hardware and software needs of the classrooms and the Library Media Center, enhances the accessibility and use of existing technology resources and advocates for new technology resources as needed. The Committee, comprised of both teachers and parents, supports teachers and students in the use of technology to achieve educational goals. If you are interested in joining the Technology Committee, please contact Kathryn Hall or Bob Drazovich (Co-Chairs).

Technology Help Desk top of page

Parent Volunteers staff the Help Desk on Wednesday and Friday afternoons and provide supplemental computer-related support to Duveneck teachers and staff. Although primary computer technical support for Duveneck teachers and staff is provided by the Palo Alto School District, parents supplement this work. The Help Desk is looking for additional volunteers. Please contact Bob Drazovich, the Help Desk Coordinator.

Other Volunteers

Other volunteers are wanted to help with grade level projects and website help. Can you support classroom teachers with preparing or conducting computer-based projects? The needs will vary by grade. We do know that we will continue identifying useful websites that support and enhance the curricula, with the goal of creating web pages with links to websites the teachers select from those recommended. Please contact Kathryn Hall if you can research links.

Teacher Webpage Assistants top of page

Teacher Web Page Assistants are available to help teachers create and maintain classroom websites. They will work with the Duveneck Webmasters, Ellen Krasnow and JB Kuppe. Volunteers may design and update html pages, take digital photographs of student work, or research curriculum links or other information for the teacher's web page. Parents can contact Ellen Krasnow to volunteer. Teachers can also request assistance by contacting Ellen if they do not have a classroom volunteer. Teachers and parents creating classroom websites should review Duveneck's Website Guidelines.

Did You Know? top of page

  • We have a computer lab in the Library Media Center. Other computers are allocated in sets in classrooms. We also have a laptops on a mobile cart that are shared by the classes.
  • Parent volunteers, with the help of 1 PAUSD staff person 1 day a week, keep the computers running. There is always something that needs fixing. Over 120 Help Desk requests were resolved in 2004-2005 using 8-20 hours a week of volunteer time and District support.
  • Hardware replacements and upgrades are funded by our school site, not the District.
  • We have a multi-year Technology Plan, based on the input of our teachers and drafted by the Technology Committee. We use the plan to guide our computer based learning and support.
  • In 2005, we hooked up one computer in every classroom to the classroom TV, improving the ability to display computer based resources and lessons to Duveneck students.
